We are a 100% volunteer fire brigade.
We are a 100% volunteer fire brigade.
We provide fire and medical first response services to the 2,500 residents of the Village of Ruawai and surrounding area. We don’t just save lives and property – we also save the community hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a year by providing the most important part of any emergency response – the trained rescuers – for free. Every day, the dedicated men and women of the Ruawai Volunteer Fire Brigade proudly put their lives on hold to answer a neighbor’s call for help. This fact distinguishes the volunteer fire service from other municipal services.
Serving our community for over 69 years, as well as providing mutual aid to communities that surround our area give members the opportunity to train and work with some of the best volunteer firefighters around using state-of-the-art equipment.

As a volunteer member of the Ruawai Volunteer Fire Brigade, you will have the honor of serving your community in emergencies. Additionally, all members work with other highly dedicated volunteers and interact with numerous local, region, and national fire and rescue organizations, including the United Fire Brigades of New Zealand (UFBA).
